The 2nd Security Force Assistance Brigade organizes, trains, advises, and supports foreign security forces in coordination with joint, interagency, and multinational forces to improve partner capability and capacity and facilitate achievement of US strategic objectives.

“We’re a startup, which, is exciting if you are in the business world, but it is also exciting if you are in the Army,” explained Col. Donn H. Hill, commander, 2nd Security Force Assistance Brigade.

Hill has served as an Army officer for 28 years and took command of 2nd SFAB in January, transitioning from his previous position serving as deputy chief of staff for operations to the XVIII Airborne Corps.

Command Sgt. Maj. Ken Killingsworth, 2nd SFAB, with 26 years in the Army, echoes Hill’s excitement.

Fort Bragg picked for new 800-soldier unit

The Army has selected Fort Bragg to be home to one of its newest units. The second Security Force Assistance Brigade will be activated on the nation’s largest military installation next month.

The first SFAB was stood up earlier this year at Fort Benning, Georgia. Fort Bragg officials had said the second such brigade could be housed in space previously used by the inactivated 440th Airlift Wing, an Air Force Reserve unit that was shuttered last year.
