Command Sgt. Maj. William D. Lohmeyer is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1991 as a 13B Cannon Crewmember. He completed One Station Unit Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. CSM Lohmeyer’s initial assignment was with Alpha Battery, 4th Battalion, 11th Field Artillery Regiment, 6th Infantry Division (L), Fort Wainwright, Alaska where he served in every position from Cannoneer to Gunner on an M101A1 (105T) Howitzer. In 1996, CSM Lohmeyer was assigned to Bravo Battery, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Field Artillery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he performed the duties of Howitzer Section Chief and Gunnery Sergeant. In 1999, CSM Lohmeyer completed Drill Sergeant School and was assigned as a Drill Sergeant in 1st Platoon, Echo Battery (OSUT), 1st Battalion, 22nd Field Artillery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
In 2001, CSM Lohmeyer served as Chief of Firing Battery, Charlie Battery, 2nd Battalion, 15th Field Artillery, 10th Mountain Division (LI), Fort Drum, New York deploying in support of OIF 1. CSM Lohmeyer also served as First Sergeant, Alpha Battery, 2nd Battalion, 15th Field Artillery Regiment and deployed in support of OIF 2.5. In 2006, CSM Lohmeyer served as First Sergeant, Charlie Battery, 2nd Battalion, 12th Field Artillery, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis Washington deploying in support of the 2007 OIF Surge. CSM Lohmeyer served as the 10th Mountain Division (LI) Fires SGM from 2009 to 2010 and as the BN CSM for 1-15 FA, 1HBCT, 2ID, Republic of Korea from 2010 to 2012 and then 3-358 FA, First Army, JBLM from 2012 to 2014. CSM Lohmeyer served at the Garrison Command Sergeant Major for Fort Rucker, AL from 2014 to 2016, the I Corps Fires Sergeant Major, JBLM, WA from 2016 to 2017 and most recently as the Talent Manager for 13/14 Series SGMs at HRC, Fort Knox, KY.
CSM Lohmeyer is a graduate of the Basic Leaders Course, the Advanced Leaders Course, the Senior Leaders Course, the First Sergeant Course, the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 59, and a host of other military schools. CSM Lohmeyer is currently working toward a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration through Columbia Southern University.His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal (2OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (4OLC), Army Commendation Medal (1OLC), Army Achievement Medal (8OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Awd), National Defense Service Medal (1BS), Iraq Campaign Medal (3CS), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge. CSM Lohmeyer has also been inducted into the Honorable Orders of Saint Barbara and Saint Michael.
