Welcome from the Brigade Command Team

                                                        CSM Etter

        Jayson Gilberti                                                                    John Etter

We welcome you to the 20th Engineer Brigade.  We are the Army’s largest engineer brigade, with seven battalions on six different installations: Fort Bragg, Fort Stewart, Fort Benning, Fort Knox, Fort Drum, and Joint Base Langley-Eustis.  From the bottom of the sea to the skies above, our Sappers, Mappers, Builders, Divers and Firefighters enable the Army to project power and win!   This brigade and its battalions have served the nation with distinction all over the world; the reputation of the brigade’s competence and esprit will precede you wherever you go.  We are proud that you will be part of the team.

The Soldiers in this brigade are known for their discipline, high standards, and attention to detail.  Upon arrival, you can expect inspiring, ethical leadership from calm, fit, adaptable, and approachable leaders; an emphasis on physical fitness, supply and maintenance discipline, composite risk management, and challenging training; participation in the XVIII Airborne Corps’ directed missions; personal development as a leader; and support of the Army Family Covenant.  The military profession is more than an occupation; it is a style of life.  War is not necessarily an affair of chance; a great deal of knowledge, study, and reflection is necessary to conduct it well.  You can be certain that you will be serving with a team of professional Soldiers!

We know that you are a professional, ready, and resilient Soldier who lives the Army Values and the Soldier Creed.  It will be our distinct privilege to serve honorably with you in the future.  We stand ready to deploy, fight, and win at a moment’s notice.  The brigade will demand the best from you in your performance and your conduct, both on and off duty.  What you have chosen to do for your country by devoting your life to the service of the country is the greatest contribution that any person could make.  People have two supreme loyalties – to country and to family.  The single most important factor in a successful Army career is a supportive Family.  Again, we welcome you and your Family to the brigade!  Your sponsor should contact you in the near future.

“I think it is a very fine thing to be an engineer Soldier.  Not only do you participate in the success of operations on the battlefield, but you also make it possible for us to GET THERE and get away from there!”
