QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

 

Explosive ordnance disposal specialists must possess the additional following qualifications:

- Must have normal color vision
- Must volunteer for the EOD Program
- Must be eligible for a TOP SECRET clearance
- Must have a ST (TECH on ERB) score of 110 or higher (NON-WAIVERABLE)..
- Must successfully complete the interview process
- Must be a U.S. citizen and hold no dual citizenships.
- Must perform a MOPP and bomb suit performance test (will be completed at phase I).
- Must possess a valid state motor vehicle operator license (waiverable).
- Must have a physical profile serial code (PULHES) of 111111, 111121, 111211, or 111221 (P2 hearing profile is waiverable).
- Must be eligible for assignment to a Category II Presidential Support position per AR 380-67.
- Must be interviewed and accepted by an EOD officer or an EOD Sergeant First Class or above in an EOD TOE/TDA position in accordance with DA Pam 600-8 and AR 614-200.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Soldiers who desire to reenlist or reclassify into MOS 89D Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) must initiate their request with a LETTER OF INTENT STATEMENT and CREDIT CHECK FORM which can be downloaded from our site. Must submit a current DA-705 and DA-5500 if required with the application.

Contact your local field Career Counselor or Reenlistment NCO to check eligibility for entry into the BEAR program or voluntary reclassification into the EOD career field.

 

Training Path to EOD

 

Accepted volunteers will PCS to Eglin AFB, Florida and attend formal training at Fort Lee, VA, TDY enroute.

Phase 1: 4E-89E/645-89D10/20 (9 weeks) taught at Fort Lee, VA (TDY – no dependants authorized)

Phase 2: 4E-89E/645-89D10/20 (29 weeks) taught at Eglin AFB, Florida (Dependants authorized).

Soldiers who fail to complete the prescribed EOD training or who enter the training and later are found to be unqualified will be removed from the EOD Program and reassigned. Upon completion of training, Soldiers are awarded MOS 89D (Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialist) and owe a 36 month additional service obligation upon completion of this training
