Garrison Command Sergeant Major


    CSM John K. Cervenka was born in Kansas City, Missouri and was raised in Naperville, Illinois. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on 3 January 1993 as an Infantry Soldier and completed One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Benning, Georgia. He has served in numerous leadership positions to include Team Leader, Squad Leader, Rifle Platoon Sergeant, Scout Platoon Sergeant, Senior Drill Sergeant, Ranger Instructor, Operations Sergeant Major, First Sergeant for B Company, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment, First Sergeant for G Company, 3/2 Cavalry Regiment, Command Sergeant Major for both Brigade Troops Battalion, 1-25 SBCT and 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 1-25 SBCT.


     His previous assignments include: A Co, 1-21 IN, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; C Co, 6th Ranger Training Battalion, Eglin AFB, Florida; A Co, 1-502 IN, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; HHC, 1-502 IN, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; D Co, 1-50 IN, Ft. Benning, Georgia; A Co, 2-27 IN, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; HHC, 2-27 IN Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; B Co, 3-10 IN, Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri; G Co, 3/2 CR, Vilseck, Germany; HHC, 3/2 CR, Vilseck, Germany; Class# 63, USASMA, Ft. Bliss, Texas; BTB, 1-25 SBCT, Ft Wainwright, Alaska; and 1-24 IN, 1-25 SBCT, Ft. Wainwright, Alaska.


     His military education and training includes: Basic Infantry One Station Unit Training (OSUT), Warrior Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, First Sergeant Course, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Drill Sergeant School, Ranger School, Airborne School, Jumpmaster School, Air Assault School, Rappel Master School, Pathfinder School, and Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education Course.  He holds a degree of Bachelor of Science from Excelsior College.

      He is married to the former Andrea Rollins of Wilmington, Delaware and they have two boys, Austin and Zachary.
