COL Robert D. Morschauser is a native of Fairless Hills, PA, and a graduate of Trenton State University, Trenton, NJ.  He was commissioned in 1987 through 51st Company, Officer Candidate School, Fort Benning, GA.

His first assignment was as a Company Fire Support Officer with Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Republic of Korea.  COL Morschauser was subsequently assigned to Fort Bragg, NC where he served as a Platoon Fire Direction Officer and then Platoon Leader for A Battery, 1st Battalion (Airborne), 39th Field Artillery Regiment.  In August of 1990, COL Morschauser deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. 

Immediately following redeployment from Operation Desert Storm, COL Morschauser attended the Field Artillery and Infantry Advance Courses and was assigned to the 7th Infantry Division (Light), Fort Ord, California.  COL Morschauser served as the Division Artillery’s Logistics Officer and then as the Commander of Headquarters, Headquarters and Service Battery, 7th Battalion, 15th Field Artillery Regiment. 

COL Morschauser returned to Fort Bragg, NC in 1994 where he commanded C Battery, 1st Battalion, 321st Field Artillery Regiment (Airborne).  In August of 1996, COL Morschauser served as a Firing Battery and Senior Light Task Force Fire Support Observer/Controller for the National Training Center (NTC), Fort Irwin, CA.  Upon completion of this assignment, he attended the Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KS, where he also earned a Master’s Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University. 

In 1999, COL Morschauser was reassigned to Fort Bragg, NC, where he served as the Current Operations Officer, XVIII Airborne Corps Artillery, followed by duties as the Operations Officer for 3rd Battalion, 321st Field Artillery Regiment, 18th Field Artillery Brigade (Airborne).  COL Morschauser was then designated as the Commander of a Field Artillery detachment which included the initial High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) platoon during its first operational deployment supporting a Joint Special Operations Task Force during the initial months of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  COL Morschauser then served as a Joint Special Operations Fire Support Officer, Joint Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, NC. 

In 2005, COL Morschauser assumed command of 2nd Battalion, 15th Field Artillery of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Fort Drum, NY, and deployed with his unit during the Operation Iraqi Freedom “surge”.  Following redeployment, COL Morschauser served as a Senior Fire Support Observer/Controller at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC), Fort Polk, LA.  He then attended the U.S. Army War College where he graduated with a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies.  In February 2011, COL Morschauser returned to Fort Bragg, NC from Afghanistan where he was assigned as the Liaison Officer for a Joint Special Operations Task Force to the International Security Assistance Force Headquarters.  Upon his return he assumed command of the 18th Fires Brigade (Airborne), 82nd Airborne Division until June 2013.  Following his command, his most recent duty was as Chief of Staff for the 82nd Airborne Division.
