The History of
Simmons Army Airfield

On a rainy day, the first visit
to SAAF by the granddaughter of Warrant Officer Herbert W.
Simmons.

"The Airfield then known
as "Smith Lake" was built in a ten day period by the 406th
Engineer Brigade, who were participating in Exercise "TEST
DROP" 1952."
