Office. The Official Travel section coordinates the movement of
individuals and groups who are conducting official travel by means
of commercial and military conveyances, (i.e. Bus,
Commercial and Military Chartered Civilian Aircraft). In
addition, this office provides Official Passport and Visa

Airport
Personnel Assistance Point Closure - The Army is
closing its personnel assistance point at Dallas/Fort Worth
International Airport. The last flight is expected to arrive on Mar
14, 2012. Operations at the personnel assistance point will be moved
to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport by April 1.

military personnel. All DOD military personnel must
be in uniform to be allowed
this amenity."
Flying Commercial Aircraft to
Afghanistan
The Foreign Clearance Guide
states that personnel arriving on US military or DoD commercial
contract aircraft enter on ID card and travel orders. Personnel
arriving on commercial aircraft, a No-fee passport and visa is
required. Passport must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond
the issue date of the Afghan visa. Visa required for personnel
arriving in Afghanistan on a commercial aircraft. Obtain a visa
prior to arrival.
Passport request for
Afghanistan, an air travel itinerary, MUST
be submitted
with the application showing
arrival into Afghanistan via commercial airline. Providing the
itinerary or additional information, i.e. orders is not a
local requirement, it is the Department of the State's policy and
must be provided, or else the application will not be processed."
NOTE: "Do
not request official passports for countries that do not require
them. If the FCG does not list a
passport requirement for the destination
country the application will not be honored by DoS.
As directed by
the States Department, travelers applying for official
passports in order to fly on authorized
commercial carriers to Afghanistan must include in the passport
application copies of the ID card, orders, and the itinerary.

Department of Transportation regulations take effect in late August
and October 2011.
