82nd Airborne Division Command Sergeant Major 
 
 

  Command Sergeant Major Michael Green

 

      Command Sergeant Major Michael Green took the position of senior-enlisted advisor of the 82nd Airborne Division in April, 2015. Command Sgt. Maj. Green is from Oakland, CA where he joined the United States Army on April 13, 1992 as an 11B Infantryman and attended One-Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Ft. Benning, GA.

 

     Upon completion of OSUT, from 1992-1995, CSM Green was assigned to 3rd BN, 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, GA. CSM Green served in A CO 3rd Battalion 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment From 1995-1998 where he held the positions of Team Leader, Squad Leader, and Weapons Squad Leader.

 

     From 1999-2000 CSM Green was assigned to the A Co. 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment as a Squad Leader and Weapons Squad Leader. From 2001-2008 CSM Green held the positions of Platoon Sergeant, Scout Platoon Sergeant, AT Platoon Sergeant and First Sergeant in 3D BDE 82D Airborne Division. During his tenure in these positions, he saw three combat deployments to Iraq and two to Afghanistan. From 2008-2009 CSM Green graduated Class 59 at the United States Army Sergeant’s Major Academy at Ft Bliss, TX.

 

     After his time at the Sergeants Major Academy CSM Green returned to FT Bragg, NC where he served as the BDE Operations Sergeant Major for the 3rd BDE, 82nd Airborne Division once again deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In August 2011 CSM Green assumed responsibility for 2D Battalion 1St Infantry Regiment “The Legion” deploying the battalion in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

 

     CSM Green has attended numerous schools throughout his military career. They are as follows: Combat Life Saver, Air Assault, Airborne, Ranger, Jumpmaster, Master Fitness Trainer Course, Pathfinder, Long Range Surveillance Leader Course, Warrior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, Sergeants Major Academy (Class 59), and Battalion Pre Command Course.

 

     He also holds a Bachelors of Business Administration from Troy University.

 

     CSM Green awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal(4 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with V Device, Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Joint Service Achievement Medal (1 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC), Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Afghan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Ranger Tab, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Master and Senior Parachutist Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
